7 Steps to start your home buying process

Step 1: Start educating yourself. Start looking at the housing market and familiarize yourself with the pricing and speed of which the available homes sell. Research the financial part of it and what that will take to get you started on your path to home ownership.
Step 2: Get your financials in order. Start looking over your financial standings like debt and credit scores. Stop making large purchases like a new car and maybe even pay off a little debt to get a better score.
Step 3: What will be your budget? Outline a budget with a home payment that is comfortable for you to live with and enables you with some wiggle room in your budget.
Step 4: Get Financially Pre-Approved. Contact a lender for a loan pre-approval to get a confirmation on how much you can afford to spend. (see Preferred Lenders List here).
Step 5: What Kind of Home to Buy? Create a list of home features and necessities you would like to have in your home.

Most of my life has been spent in service to others. I served my country in the United States Marine Corps for 4 years. I have, more recently, spent 17 years in healthcare as a Certified Medical Assistant and Phlebotomist. During all that time my husband and I became parents of three crazy and wonderful boys. Along the way, I have learned that I absolutely enjoy helping people. Making someone’s day and sharing the things I have learned to help facilitate that has always been my motivation. With the many changes in healthcare today, I needed to get back to that way of thinking. I’ve always had an interest in the field of real estate. I love the idea of making someone’s dreams come true or helping them to deal with any stressful situation that buying or selling a home can bring. Having moved several times over the years, for several different reasons, I know what it is like to be in these situations. And as I have had many people who have helped me navigate through it all I hope to do the same for someone else.
